Tongue piercing questions?

Ok, I've been considering getting my tongue pierced, however I work at a place where we arent supposed to have visible ';facial'; piercings. I was thinking of still getting it and just seeing how it goes and if it became a problem to take it out. Im thinking I could get away with it because I dont talk with my mouth wide open. Questions

1- How much swelling should I expect after two days (i'd be off for two days before going back to work)

2- How far back would make it less visible?

3-Whats your overall opinion on girls with tongue rings?

4- Can i be pierced with clear jewelry?

5- Does it really chip your teeth?

Any other info you can give would be appreciated. Only people with tongue piercings or other body piercings answer please. Thanks :-)Tongue piercing questions?
Hiya

i had my tongue pierced now for over 2years... when i had it done..it swelled for a least a week..it all depends on your bodies reaction. Dont get it to far back. Have it like right in the middle. My work place doesnt allow piecings wither, but on ebay or other piecing places you can buy see throw tongue bars and no one can tell you have one it... No one knows at work that i have mine done..2years down the line! Lol...The only problem with my teeth is that the anamal of your teeth will not be brillant as the ball will rub sometimes, as it can be a habbit to move it around near your teeth..

Hope that helps you..and good luck! It dont hurt..lol

Its going to be swollen for longer than 2 days and going to take you a while to get used to. Best thing to keep swelling down is to drink cold drinks or frozen ones. But keep in mind that after everything you put in your mouth you are suppose to use mouth wash after to keep from getting infected.

Yes you can crack your teeth. You can try plastic clear balls but then the plastic cracks. Both hurt if you bite really hard, which you will until you get used to it. I don't think you can really chose where it gets placed on your tongue. You can probably tell them to put it as far back as possible but they are limited by where blood vessels go, the muscle and some other things I think.

If you are otherwise a fairly classy and poised person, your tongue ring probably won't immediately give people a bad opinion of you. There are stil other things to take into account. If thats something your worried about, other visible tattoos and the way you dress, carry your self, how well spoken you are are also going to be considered. Also something to take into account is the effect it has on your teeth and gums. Supposedly it makes you more at risk for gingivitis and some other stuff.
It will swell to twice its size in thickness (usually)

The piercer will know how far back they can put it.

I think its WAY over rated!

It can not be pierced w/ clear jewelry but I think you can find a clear ball at first and then change it to all clear. I had mine for about 1 year and a bunch of people never noticed and I had silver. That was 10 years ago. I thought it was going to be better than it was. After a while it wasn't that cool anymore.

Yes it chips your teeth but you can get a plastic ball to reduce that part.
oh my goodness.. i wanted to till a read this recent article- and realized how dangerous it was.

ill answer your questions, but i would advise you to reconsider this

1. it takes about a week for the swelling to go down- just suck on a lot of ice

2. don't go to far, and make sure they use a UV light to check for veins that could burst upon impact of needle.

3. don't like them anymore, i don't find them trashy or anything, just overall grouse and unsanitary also it distracts someone when they talk to you because you'll just look at their tongue aha.

4. i believe they start you off with a metal bar, then change to plastic so you lessen the risk of chipping a tooth.

5. yes if you bite on the medal bar- it can also cause receded gums.

best of luck;

:)
1) mine didnt swell up much i was able to talk and be normal and no one noticed i had it done until i showed them but it also depends on the person

2) umm it doesnt matter the piercer will choose the best spot for it and it depends on how long your tongue is and how wide you open your mouth when you talk

3) i love my tongue ring! i think its a girl piercing not so much a guy piercing

4) nooo youll get a steel bar and when the swelling goes down go back to the piercer and have them change it into a clear barbell

5) it shouldnt unless you eat horribly. i did chip my tooth for it and idk how i did it but i did and it wasnt bad because it was a baby tooth so just be SUPER careful when you eat and stuff like that and you will have no problem at all :)

just make sure you clean it and DONT PLAY WITH IT! haha
