How long would you date a girl without having sex?

I've have known this guy for a while but our first date was Sunday. We went out to dinner and back to his place but didn't have sex (although things got pretty heated, the clothes stayed on.. my decision, not his. He wanted it). Monday he came over to my place for dinner and we hung out. He wanted to hang out tonight (Tuesday), but I had to take a rain check.





If I don't sleep with him for a couple weeks, do you think he'll stay interested? It's just that I'm much more self conscious about everything with someone I really like, and I really like him. I'm worried that if I do have sex with him, I'll freak out and convince myself he only likes me for sex, but I'm worried that if I don't have sex with him, he'll get bored. Background info is that he's 23, I'm 21 - he's really smart and a chill guy, really considerate and funny but also horny like everybody else and I think he thinks I'm crazier (in a sexual way) than I am (at least at this point in my life).





Also, should I give an explanation for why I don't want to have sex or is that too weird and emotional for this early in a romance? Would he rather just hear ';no'; or ';later'; without an explanation?How long would you date a girl without having sex?
In all honesty, wait awhile before having sex with him. I dated a guy who wanted sex everytime he got stoned and drunk (i stayed sober, i didn't want to have sex with a guy who couldn't remember annything the next morning and spent most his time puking when he woke up) and i refused it, then he dumped me saying we're too different. Although we were quite different, i realized he thought i was an easy lay and i wasn't willing to give him what he wanted when i didn't want to give it.





Stick to your guns, tell him you're not ready for it yet. If this guy is a good guy he'll respect your wishes. He he's a jerk, he'll break up with you. Even if he breaks up with you, you have to think, do you really want to be with a guy who wants you mainly for sex?





My first time, i made the guy wait a year, i wanted to be in love when we did it. Granted we're not together anymore, i knew that having him respect my wishes and not pressuring me, meant he was indeed a good guy.





Tell him you want to wait for it if you're not comfortable with it. Stick to your guns and don't let a guy pressure you into something you aren't emotionally prepared for. Sex changes everything whether people want to admit it or not.

I'm 18, and I'm going to wait until I'm married to have sex. With my current girlfriend and our plans in life, that will be a total of 9 years of dating before we have sex. You want to sell yourself to keep this guy interested within a month. Consider how much you value yourself. If you don't care enough to maintain virginity (not sure if you are or not) then why wait at all? If sex is a commodity and not a commitment then why wait?
A couple of months probably. If he asks why not give an explanation but don't offer it otherwise just say later.

alright, im going to be honest. Most of the time, guys only want to have a girlfriend for sex and fun. However, you can't blame him. It's his human nature, or else you guys wouldn't be having those steamy make-out sessions. Criticizing a man for wanting to make love to woman is criticizing his human nature. So tsktsk.

To tell you the truth, I'd be turned off by a girl who gave it up fairly easily. Meaning within the first few dates. No matter how much I liked her, I probably wouldn't call her.
well first of all you shouldnt have to worry about keeping him interested, if he really likes you he would be interested regardless if your having sex or not.
If he really likes you he'll wait. He should want you not just sex and if hes willing to respect your wishes and wait then that should be proof of his worthyness. lol. I was with a girl that I really liked and cared about. We hung out for like 3 months and she wasnt ready to have sex. I genuinly just liked her company anyway. I really cared about her and thus waited on her, didnt even bring it up.It made finaly getting there alot more satisfying. We are both 19 and waiting showed my true feelings for her.





So my answer is if I sincierly like a girl and am interested ill wait until she's ready for me.
